Chris is a staff member at Sustainable Economies Law Center, a collective nonprofit in Oakland, CA. He co-leads the Law Center’s Housing, Worker Self-Directed Nonprofits, and Money & Finance Programs, and supports with grassroots fundraising, grant writing, and internal governance. He is particularly focused on transforming workplaces, neighborhoods, and other potential sites of self-governance into opportunities for liberation. Chris has organized around community control of land, indigenous sovereignty, fossil fuel divestment, food justice, and more. He practices Aikido, recently passed the California Bar Exam without going to law school, and once traveled from Japan to West Africa by land and sea.
