Afro Mexicans of the Costa Chica in Mexico

This session will explore the conditions of Afro Mexicans in the Costa Chica of Guerrero and Oaxaca of Mexico. Highlighting the Afro Mexican movement, workshop participants will gain an understanding of the issues and demands of these communities. Through movement based explorations inspired by stories, songs, and material objects, participants will learn about the factors that threaten their erasure. The intended outcome of this session will be to strategize how to build a solidarity movement.
