Community Digital Risk Matrix

We will build a tool to map and diagnose digital risks and harms to our communities, and brainstorm strategies to collectively address them.

Acknowledging that digital risks and harms disproportionately affect different groups, we need a way to anticipate and address these specific risks as we build digital ecosystems. In this session, we will build a Digital Risk Matrix as a tool for organizers, policy strategists, and practitioners to make our work more consentful as we bring new technologies into our communities. This session will invite all participants to explore and contribute their experiences to develop a shared resource. We will discuss what kind of diagnostic tool we need and why, and which groups of people face particular digital risks. Using our shared brainpower, we’ll map out risks and then flip the script to think about consentful tools and strategies digitally at-risk people can use to build power, not paranoia.
