How can we use code as a powerful and expressive medium for storytelling, art-making, poetry, community building, and social change? We will introduce participants to the new Scratch 3.0 coding editor and brainstorm and build projects that go beyond the norms of computing culture. Participants (and organizers!) will walk away with ideas for how to use code to creatively express ideas and add new dimensions to their creative practices. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop if possible. Everyone is welcome - whether you consider yourself an artist or not. :)
Champika Fernando is part of the Scratch Team at the MIT Media Lab. She has worked as an engineer and designer and is currently focused on how to best support the use of Scratch as a creative coding tool.
