Save Yourself! The Musical

A workshop for the musical “Save Yourself!” which follows a young girl's journey of escaping the corporate system and the dampening of a black woman's imagination and creativity. With a panel of community artists to follow, we will discuss and give an inside look at what it takes to finish a project or piece of work over an extended period of time. We will learn about advocating for self, generating practice space, building relationships, and trusting instincts as part of the creative process.

Born and raised in Metro-Detroit, John studied Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan (BFA program `01-`05) and has over a decade of experience as a professional artist. An accomplished musician and actor, Sloan has performed in numerous regional theatres productions, concert events, and on the national tour of Disney`s The Lion King.
