Finding Yourself in the Break: Lessons in Black Jazz Meditation

Listening is at the heart of all change-making. This session will explore the liberating power of listening by engaging with an archive of Black Music. We will discuss listening as a timeless tool for excavation amongst people of color and practice meditation to the work of Black musicians who utilized improvisation. (Music will include Alice Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, etc.) Participants will leave with new ways to care for themselves through listening, as well as ways to listen for ways forward.
