Martha Bayne
Martha Bayne is a writer and editor based in Chicago. Currently, she is editor in chief of Belt Magazine, producing independent journalism for the (post)industrial Midwest, and coeditor, with Zoe Zolbrod, of the Sunday page of the independent literary site the Rumpus. Her features and essays have also appeared in the Chicago Reader, TimeOut Chicago, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, the Washington Post, the Rumpus, and the Baffler. She is also a company member with Chicago’s Theater Oobleck, founder of the long running Soup & Bread hunger relief program at Chicago's Hideout bar, and author of Soup & Bread Cookbook: Building Community One Pot at a Time (Agate Publishing, 2011). In 2015-2016 was a fellow with the Social Justice News Nexus project, housed at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.
