Michelle Bernardino

California State University, Los Angeles
Michelle Bernardino (she/they) is an offspring of a Honduran mother and Mexican father. She writes poetry, plays, short stories and creates socio-political art when time permits. She enjoys talking about sexuality and reproductive justice in a transnational context and the connection to buen vivir. Her organizing with mujeres del cono sur and conversing with organizers from the isthmus have deeply impacted the way in which she understands bodily autonomy, its relationship to land, and decolonial indigenous feminisms. Currently, she is completing a post baccalaureate certificate in Women, Gender and Sexualities Studies at CalState Los Angeles. She is a youth femmetor in her hometown of Pomona (Tongva lands), facilitates classes at a prison, and is part of a resilient crew of mujeres raising a five-year-old and teenager.
