Nijeul X. Porter is a cultural organizer, producer, and educator with the wholehearted belief that art is at the tipping point for social change and is always excited about opportunities to facilitate the intersections of art, education, and community. He currently is Producer and Partnerships Strategist for the SOZE Agency, a workers-owned creative production and media company, that creates campaigns driven by compassion, authenticity and equity through art, culture, and media. Past projects include, mitu's Immigration Town Hall, the California Endowment's Sons & Brothers Campaign, #ActToChange AAPI initiative and the #IAmAnImmigrant pop-up experience during Immigrant Heritage Month 2017. Prior to his current work, Nijeul led as Director of Student Programs for Greenway Arts Alliance, serving over 2,000 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District using art and creativity in and out of the classroom. In addition to his work in schools, he is an inaugural team member of the CreatHIVity Project, a city-wide initiative using art to address health concerns for young men of color. The project is a program of REACH LA, a social service organization in South LA serving LGTBQ youth of color. Nijeul has worked in partnership with a number of organizations including artEquity, Center Theatre Group, The Pasadena Playhouse, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and others between Los Angeles, Chicago, and the District of Columbia. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Management from California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Howard University. @nijeulx
