Adela Nieves Martinez

Adela Nieves Martinez is a Traditional Community Health and Healing Arts Practitioner, Organizer and Mama. She is deeply committed to her Taino (indigenous peoples of the Caribbean) roots and integrative wellness approaches, practicing Acudetox (ear acupuncture), indigenous traditional medicine, cupping therapy, whole person natural care, and Reiki for individuals and groups struggling with addiction, PTSD, stress and trauma. Adela founded Healing by Choice! a circle of women-of-color healers and health practitioners offering a range of healing modalities to organizations and communities within the city of Detroit. She is also a project coordinator for Center for Embodied Pedagogy and Action (CEPA), an ecologically light retreat and education center in Puerto Rico. Adela supports people in their journeys to tell their own story and define health, healing, and wellness for themselves. Adela is especially passionate about developing integrative processes for building community-based support structures for health-care, mental health, disability and resource sharing. She collaborates with individuals and groups of health practitioners, healers, and health justice organizers; locally and nationally to create community modeled healing practice spaces and mobile clinics.
