Amita Swadhin

A Just Beginnings Collaborative Fellow and the founder and director of Mirror Memoirs, a storytelling and organizing project centering the narratives, healing and leadership of LGBTQI people of color who were raped or sexually assaulted as children. They are an educator, storyteller, activist and consultant dedicated to fighting interpersonal and institutional violence against young people. Amita's commitments and approach to this work stem from their experiences as a genderqueer, femme queer woman of color, daughter of immigrants from India, and years of abuse by their parents, including eight years of rape by their father.
