A proud native Detroiter of proud Puerto Rican heritage, Consuela Barber-Lopez is a passionate cultural and civic advocate. The foundation of her academic achievements began with the Detroit Public Schools and ended at Wayne State University, her focus at the latter being History and Multicultural Marketing and Communication. Consuela joined the CoC family back in 2013 initially as an AmeriCorps member focusing on youth workforce development. Due to her dedication and intrinsic desire to ensure that Detroit residents are empowered through education and leadership development, her responsibilities have now extended to that of economic development as well as community engagement.
