Dorothy Hernandez

Freelance Journalist
Dorothy Hernandez is a Detroit-based freelance journalist who has contributed to NPR's The Salt, Civil Eats, and Roads and Kingdoms as well as several Detroit-area publications such as edibleWOW and Neighborhood SEEN. An alumna of the University of Illinois, Dorothy is the former managing editor of a city magazine and has worked as a copy editor at The Detroit News and the Chicago Tribune's RedEye. She is also the co-founder of Filipino pop-up restaurant Sarap Detroit, which aims to highlight Filipino cuisine in the Detroit area through collaborations with other Filipino chefs and pop-up dinners.
