Niq began working for the innovative Digital Youth Network in 2010 as a mentor at the Chicago Public Library's YOUmedia learning lab space. A background in performance arts and education attracted him to the research-based learning models that guided the creation of the "Connected Learning" pedagogy in after-school sites. He joined Nashville Public Library in 2014 to launch the Studio NPL program, and-together with a talented team of mentors and library staff- has grown the program into several sites including a mobile lab that brings digitally-focused learning opportunities to students in schools, community centers, and beyond. He continues to study implementation of digital literacy experiences for teens, and serves as an adviser for several grants and maker-spaces nationwide.  MLIS, Valdosta University.
