Robyn Maynard

Author Policing Black Lives, Black Lives Matter Toronto
Robyn Maynard is an author and community organizer based in MontreÃÅal. She has been a part of grassroots movements for sex workers rights, migrants rights and Black liberation, working against racial profiling, police violence, detention and deportation for over a decade. Most recently, she is the author of Policing Black Lives: State violence in Canada from slavery to the present (Fernwood 2017). Policing Black Lives is a national bestseller, already in its second printing, and has received praise in the Toronto Star, the Montreal Review of Books, Now Toronto, Maclean's, Publishers Weekly, the Ottawa Citizen, the Winnipeg Free Press, and La Presse. Her writing has appeared in the Toronto Star, World Policy Journal, Canadian Women Studies Journal, Atlantis, , the Montreal Review of Books and numerous book anthologies.
