Sam Appel is a labor, housing, and racial justice researcher. He recently was campaign researcher with the UFCW Local 770 union, drafting strategy for cannabis unionization and social equity policy in Los Angeles. He organizes and fundraises with Showing Up for Racial Justice and seeks to combine research strategies with abolitionist and white anti-racist organizing. He recently moved to the Bay Area, is originally from New York, and he loves Detroit hometown hero Grace Lee Boggs. He has a Master's in Urban Planning from UCLA. He/him/they pronouns.
